Conner Prairie Offering Free Admission on MLK Day, January 17, 2011

Fans of Conner Prairie will want to take advantage of the special free admission at Conner Prairie, the living history museum in Fishers, Indiana. The museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday, January 17th.Conner Homestead, Conner Prairie

Visitors can listen to stories about the 28th United States Color Troops from the Civil War, be a part of the We Are Alike People Quilt, learn “How are We Alike, How are We Different?” in the Science Lab, and even go outside to meet some animals and learn how they handle the cold Indiana winters.

Additional activities will include a Conner House tour, an outdoor scavenger hunt, and card-making for the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

And for you Civil War buffs, you can get a sneak peek at Conner Prairie’s newest exhibit, the 1863 Civil War Journey: Raid on Indiana, which opens June of this year. Visitors can learn the true story of Albert Cheatam, who escaped from slavery, and hear about his quest for freedom and desire to fight for it.
