Bed-and-breakfasts are one of my favorite ways to travel. The cozy and sometimes luxurious accommodations, the delicious morning meals, and the opportunity to meet congenial hosts and fellow travelers make the B&B concept appealing to me. If you are like-minded, then you’ll want to check out The Oliver Inn in South Bend, Indiana.
This 25-room Victorian retreat offers an escape from the present and a return to the elegance of the early 1900s. All but two of the guest rooms offer a private bath. Some include a fireplace as well. Fear not, modern-day amenities including in-room cable television and high speed wireless internet are also included.
Built in 1885, it was home to the Oliver family, who made their fortune in farm implements such as the Oliver Chilled Plow, for more than 100 years. It’s been welcoming guests as The Oliver Inn since 1993. Guests enjoy a full candlelight breakfast each morning by the fire with live piano music, as well as complimentary snacks and beverages from the Butler’s Pantry.
Be sure to leave plenty of time to enjoy the grounds of The Oliver Inn, which are beautifully landscaped and gorgeous in every season.
From now through January 10, 2011, LivingSocial.com is offering a fabulous deal on a one-night stay for two at The Oliver Inn for only $80. If you don’t get in on this deal, check out the Inn’s website for discounts and package specials.
