The Mayberry Cafe Experience

Mayberry Cafe

The Mayberry Café in Danville, IN, is a quaint, family owned diner with a special something that sets it apart.  You walk through the door of the café and are instantly transported to a simpler time, when family was most important and Andy Griffith was the sheriff of Mayberry.

Barney Fife BlvdThe diner on the main street in Danville is based entirely on the Andy Griffith Show.  The menu features sections such as Opie’s Ice Cream Parlor and Andy’s Favorites, with entrees like Aunt Bee’s Fried Chicken.  I heard about the restaurant from my parents who happened upon it one summer afternoon during a leisurely motorcycle ride.  They raved about it and I finally decided I had to try it.  As soon as I walked through the door, I was instantly surrounded by Andy Griffith memorabilia and I knew I would love it.

Mayberry Cafe

Every TV in the restaurant shows an episode of the Andy Griffith Show, there are pictures and newspaper clippings framed on every wall featuring characters from the show and articles about the restaurant, and the staff is all so friendly and welcoming.  I was seated immediately; the service was prompt and the timing almost perfect.  My server was very friendly and offered me advice about the daily special and what I should order.  I ended up getting Aunt Bee’s Fried Chicken with a baked potato and side of cinnamon baked apples.  It was delicious! My server brought fresh bread that was still warm and honey butter that was fabulous! And the whole meal cost under $10.  I highly recommend the Mayberry Café for lunch or dinner with family, friends or that special someone. It offers an experience you can’t get just anywhere.

You can find Mayberry Cafe in Danville located on Main St (US 36), in the heart of the small town.  Open Mon-Thu and Sun 11am-9:30pm and Fri-Sat 11am-10pm, the Mayberry Cafe is a local favorite and a great place for out-of-towners to stop and enjoy a leisurely meal.  For more information or details about the restaurant, call 317.745.4067
