White House Donuts has been around since before I can remember. Some of my fondest childhood memories involve getting up early with my dad or my grandpa to get to the donut shop before the best ones were gone and bringing home a big boxful to eat the mouth-watering, doughy delights with the whole family. Yeast donuts, cake donuts, jelly-filled, whip-filled, long johns, donut holes, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls and so much more. No matter which one you choose, you just can’t go wrong. They’re all scrumptious!
Open daily from 5 am to 11 am (or until the donuts are gone, whichever comes first) White House Donuts has been an icon in Westfield for years. Old men go each morning to sit around the tables, read the paper, drink coffee and argue about things that don’t really matter. High school kids stop in on their way to school in the mornings. Adults come in to get breakfast for the morning meeting. There’s even a place for small businesses in the area to add their business cards to a huge bulletin board, making it easy for anyone in the community to find whatever they might need.
The family-owned and -operated donut shop was opened in 1987 by James Hicks. Along with his father, Paul Hicks, he has been making and selling his tasty, homemade treats for 23 years now. The donuts are reasonably priced, taste fantastic, and are freshly made each morning. Not even Dunkin’ Donuts can compare to the creations that can be found at White House Donuts. If you’re a fan of these delicious sweets for breakfast, I highly recommend White House Donuts. You’ll be hard pressed to find any better, at least in central Indiana.
