There are some fantastic art fairs in Indianapolis including the Broad Ripple Art Fair, which just held their 40th annual event on May 15-16, and the Penrod Art Fair on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art coming up on September 11, 2010, but one of my personal favorites is the 55th annual Talbot Street Art Fair, coming up on June 12-13, 2010. The event is a juried art fair hosted by the Herron Morton Place Neighborhood Association, and best of all it’s FREE!
Artisans from around the country gather on Talbott Street each June for this storied event (and yes, the event is spelled Talbot while the street it’s on is spelled Talbott). You can buy anything from handcrafted pottery to professional photography to customized Christmas ornaments and everything in between. Even if you don’t end up buying any of the art, it’s a great excuse to see the historic Herron Morton Place neighborhood on Indy’s near north side.
