Do you love to fish but just never have time to go get a license? The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is hosting Free Fishing Weekend June 5-6, which allows anyone to fish without a license during those two days.
Relax on the banks of an Indiana lake or river with old friends or make it a family weekend by teaching your kids to fish. Youth 17 and younger never require a fishing license, so if they get “hooked” on the experience, only you will need to purchase a license to take them next time. If you’re not sure how good of a fishing coach you’ll be, try reading DNR’s tips for fishing with kids.
Find the perfect place to fish near your home by using DNR’s interactive fishing map. Several spots are offering special activities this weekend, like fish cleaning and cooking classes and knot-tying demonstrations. Call in advance for pre-registration details.
