On May 6, 1920, the Hotel Indiana opened in the town of Wabash to much fanfare. In the years that followed, it functioned as a hotel and then later as apartments. But next week, on May 6, 2010 — 90 years after the original opening — the newly restored hotel will enjoy a second grand opening, this time as the Charley Creek Inn.
To celebrate its storied history, the Charley Creek is inviting guests to come to the Grand Opening dressed in 1920s attire. Enjoy a cocktail reception for just $10 per person. Dinner and dancing will follow for $30/adults and $20/children. More information about the grand opening can be found by contacting info@charleycreeninn.com
The Charley Creek Inn is billed as an historic boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Wabash. It offers 30 guest rooms and suites, onsite dining, a Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop, and a Wine and Cheese Shop.
I haven’t been to the Charley Creek Inn, but looking at the photos and reading about it makes me think it’s the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. The Inn does welcome children, but as the mother of three, I think I’d be inclined to leave mine at home with a sitter so my husband and I could enjoy dinner at Twenty, Charley Creek’s upscale restaurant — the seafood cioppino sounds delicious.
Perhaps we’d take in a show at the nearby Honeywell Center. Or stroll through the Charley Creek Gardens. For sure, we’d visit the Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop and spend the morning lounging in the luxurious looking guest rooms until the 11am checkout.
Maybe I should make reservations now for our wedding anniversary next fall.
