Conner Prairie Opening Weekend

By admin on March 22, 2010
Back

It’s opening weekend this weekend (March 27 & 28) at Conner Prairie Interactive History Park. They’re kicking off their 2010 outdoor season with several new programs and interactive experiences.

Some of their new daily programs will include:

  • Wednesdays are Grandparents Day: Programming for grandparents and grandchildren, including storytelling, gardening, crafts, and cooking.
  • Thursdays, Taste the Past: Sample authentic foods from Indiana’s past, from biscuits and jam to sauerkraut and herbal teas.
  • Frontier Survivor Fridays: Compete in frontier challenges throughout the day that culminate in a daily tomahawk throwing competition.
  • Science Saturday: Explore the science throughout Indiana’s past, present and future with activities, experiments and hands-on fun.

There are a lot more programs should be sure to check out the website. There is something nearly every day of the week. During opening weekend, visitors will be able to sample Science Saturday, Frontier Survivor, Grandparent’s Day, as well as Taste the Paste (taste Mrs. Zimmerman’s homemade maple cake), and Historic Crime Scene Investigation (solve an unusual mystery in Prairietown).

According to the information I got from my friend, Angela Tuell, the PR Coordinator for Conner Prairie, Opening Weekend will also feature an “ask the doctor” segment between a current Community Health Network physician and Prairietown’s Dr. Campbell. The two will compare and contrast common medical issues and diseases of 1836 versus 2010.

Opening weekend activities will take place on Saturday, March 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 28, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $13 adults, $12 seniors, $9 youth, and is free for members and children under 2.
