Jamaica Farewell Showing in March at the Indianapolis Fringe Theatre

By admin on February 27, 2010
Back

The Indianapolis Fringe Theatre is becoming the new place in Indianapolis to go for new theater productions. I’ve been to a re-interpretation of Richard III, They Call Me Mr. Fry, and Blunder Construction.

From March 5 – 21, Debra Ehrhardt’s one-woman show, JAMAICA FAREWELL, is the true story of her escape from revolutionary Jamaica in the 1970s. Ehrhardt faced prison and even death as she tried to escape. But with the help of an American CIA agent who was in love with her, she made it to the United States and started her life over. (And no, I didn’t just give away the ending.)

Jamaica. Revolution. Visa. Impossible. CIA. Seduction. Desperation. A Dream. Heartbreak. Handsome. American. Customs. Million Dollars. Machetes. Goats. Prostitutes. Bullets. Adrenaline. Kerosene. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. A TRUE STORY.

This is quite a big deal to get her show here at the Indy Fringe Theatre. Ehrhardt is a veteran of other Fringe festivals, including putting on an award-winning performance at the NYC Fringe Festival. Ehrhardt even had an Off-Broadway run of the show at the Soho Playhouse in Spring 2008, and has sold out shows in Toronto, Atlanta, Santa Barbara, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Virginia, San Francisco, Mexico, Bermuda, and Los Angeles. I can barely get my own family to read my humor column, and Ehrhardt is rocking the entire Western hemisphere.

Showtimes for Jamaica Farewell

March 5 – 21
Friday and Saturday 8 p.m.
Sunday matinees 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Tickets: $20 adults, $l0 students

You can learn more about Jamaica Farewell at the Indy Fringe Theatre, or at Debra Ehrhardt’s website.
