The Christmas season has finally arrived and one of Kokomo’s top holiday attractions invites you to visit and celebrate the season. Thousands of Christmas lights and dozens of Christmas trees, decorations, and wreaths have been magnificently displayed from top to bottom at the Seiberling Mansion in preparation for its annual “Christmas at the Seiberling” tours.
I visited the Seiberling Mansion (which is also the home of the Howard County Historical Museum) last month soon after all of the decorating was complete. As I entered through the main door, the view of the front room and spiral staircase was simply stunning. Hours and hours have been spent carefully preparing the rooms on all three floors with special holiday touches. It had been awhile since I had last toured the museum, and in addition to the beautiful Christmas decorations, I enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits, including one of their newest displays, a large collection of highly collectible Jenkins glass. It was a wonderful visit, and it even inspired me to start my own holiday decorating at home that weekend! There is no better time than the holidays to visit the Seiberling Mansion.
“Christmas at the Seiberling” tours will continue through December 30, 2009. The Seiberling, located at 1200 West Sycamore Street in Kokomo, is open Tuesday – Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children under 12. In addition to its regular hours, the Seiberling Mansion is also open for holiday parties, lunch and tours, and group tours by appointment. Call 765-452-4314 or visit their website for more information. Make plans now with friends or family to visit “Christmas at the Seiberling” this year!
