Patoka Lake Eagle Watch Special Event in January

Patoka Lake will host area eagle watchers on January 9, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Dress warmly, and join Aron Showalter, Patoka Lake Wildlife Specialist as you travel by car to different eagle hot spots, and search for America’s symbol in the Hoosier National Forest.

You’ll also get an update of our state’s eagle and osprey program with John Castrale, Nongame Wildlife Biologist, DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife. Rex Watters, DNR Monroe Lake Wildlife Specialist, will also speak about his experiences in the Eagle Reintroduction Program in the 1980s, and his rescue operations and observations of these wild birds.

You’ll need to register in advance for $5 per person, ages 6 and up. Children 5 and under are free. Refreshments will be served. You’ll need to bring your own cameras, binoculars, bag lunch, preferred snacks, family and friends.

For more information, call the Patoka Lake Visitor Center at (812) 685.2447, or the Patoka Lake Property Office (812) 685.2464.
