  • Guide to the Movie Theaters of Northwest Indiana

Guide to the Movie Theaters of Northwest Indiana

By Visit Indiana on July 31, 2009
Back

Believe it or not, Northwest Indiana is actually a great hub for Cinema. We get most of the major movie releases, including a lot of art movies thanks to a great network of movie theaters in the region.

Here’s a breakdown of all the cinemas and multiplexes in the area.

Lake County

Hammond:

The Kennedy is a small two screen theater located in downtown Hammond.

The Kennedy Theatre

6735 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond, IN – (219) 845-5336
Map

Schererville:

The two Showplace theaters in Schererville usually get pretty much every movie that comes out. They’re state of the art theaters with stadium seating and digital sound.

Keresotes Showplace 16

875 Deercreek Drive, Schererville, IN – (800) 326-3264 x1612

Keresotes Showplace 12

1400 Eagle Ridge Drive, Schererville, IN – (800) 326-3264

Hobart/Merrillville:

The Showplace 12 in Merrillville shows first run movies (the latest releases) while it’s sister theater across the street show second run movies at a substantial discount ($3 last time I went).

Keresotes Showplace 12

2590 Southlake Mall Drive, Hobart, IN – (800) 32632646

Keresotes Merrillville 10

2360 East 79th Avenue, Merrillville, IN – (800) 326-3264 x824

Art Theater

230 Main Street, Hobart, IN – (219) 942-1670
Map

The Art Theater is a gem of a theater. It’s really old and has a beautiful frescoed ceiling. It was recently bought out and remodeled. They show recent releases and it’s a pretty cheap night out.

Porter County

Portage:

Goodrich Portage 16 IMAX

6550 US Highway 6, Portage, IN – (219) 764-7469
Map

This massive multiplex also gets most new releases but it’s hallmark is obsiouly it’s IMAX screen which is well worth the extra money.

Valparaiso:

Cinemark 12

700 Porter’s Vale Blvd., Valparaiso, IN – (800) 32632646
Map

The Cinemark in Valpo is much smaller and more intimate that the other huge multuplexes in Northwest Indiana. Much better suited for a quiet date out.

49 Drive-In Theatre

675 N. Calumet Avenue, Valparaiso, IN – (219) 462-6122
Map

The 49 is a must! To read more about the 49er, read my previous post here.

LaPorte County

Michigan City:

Keresotes Showplace 14

100 Meijer Drive, Michigan City, IN – (800) 326-3264

LaPorte:

LaPorte Cinema

608 Colfax Ave, LaPorte, IN – (219) 326-7469
