Believe it or not, Northwest Indiana is actually a great hub for Cinema. We get most of the major movie releases, including a lot of art movies thanks to a great network of movie theaters in the region.
Here’s a breakdown of all the cinemas and multiplexes in the area.
Lake County
Hammond:
The Kennedy is a small two screen theater located in downtown Hammond.

The two Showplace theaters in Schererville usually get pretty much every movie that comes out. They’re state of the art theaters with stadium seating and digital sound.

The Art Theater is a gem of a theater. It’s really old and has a beautiful frescoed ceiling. It was recently bought out and remodeled. They show recent releases and it’s a pretty cheap night out.
Porter County
Portage:
Goodrich Portage 16 IMAX
6550 US Highway 6, Portage, IN – (219) 764-7469 Map
This massive multiplex also gets most new releases but it’s hallmark is obsiouly it’s IMAX screen which is well worth the extra money.
Valparaiso:
Cinemark 12
700 Porter’s Vale Blvd., Valparaiso, IN – (800) 32632646 Map
The Cinemark in Valpo is much smaller and more intimate that the other huge multuplexes in Northwest Indiana. Much better suited for a quiet date out.
