If you’re into the beautiful art of Amish Quilt making then there’s an exciting event coming up you may want to check out. Shipshewana is hosting their annual quilt festival. This year’s festival will run for four days this year from June 24th to June 27th.

The four day festival is sure to keep quilting enthusiasts busy. There will be a quilting luncheon and programs available as well as quilt shows and vendors. Marianne Fons will also be speaking at the quilt festival. If you are interested in attending the luncheon, program or speaking event please contact the Shipshewana Quilt Festival at 866.243.9434.

On June 25th Lynette Jenson, who is the creator of Thimbleberries, will be unveiling a new cotton fabric for quilting. The new fabric is titled “Greetings from Amish Country.” The fabric highlights local history and traditional Amish colors. The unveiling of this unique fabric will be at 9 am at the Yoder’s Department Store. Along with the new fabric from Lynette Jenson, there will be many vendors selling quilting notions and fabrics.

The quilts that will be on display are art that were done with a needle and thread instead of a paintbrush. Amish women have always been known for their quilting skills. The works that will be displayed are truly breathtaking in beauty. Even those who are not quilt enthusiasts will also surely enjoy the quilts that are on display.

While in Shipshewana for the quilting festival, take the time to enjoy the charming shops in town. The shops offer a wide range of fare for the entire family. Another must do in Shipshewana during the quilting festival is to have a meal at the famous Blue Gate Restaurant.
