This weekend is one of my favorite weekends in Indianapolis. It’s the 26th Annual Italian Street Festival at Holy Rosary Church.
You’ll find authentic Italian food, drink, live music and dancing in great abundance from 5:00pm – 11:00pm on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13. My favorite is the toasted ravioli; my husband goes for the Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onions. And of course we’ll both “take the cannoli.” (Sorry, there’s my one requisite nod to The Godfather.)
If I have a choice, I choose to head to the Street Festival on Saturday so we can watch the Italian heritage procession of children, priests and the Virgin Mary statue that goes through the street and into the church for Mass. The procession takes place around 6:45pm, with Mass starting at 7pm.

The festival does include a few amusement rides, but we try to keep our kids away from those and take them to the nearby neighborhood playground instead.
