Fifth Annual Midwest Mandolin Festival

By admin on June 4, 2009
Back

Have you ever said to yourself — and I think we all have — “You know, there just aren’t enough mandolin festivals around here?”

Mandolin lovers of Indiana, take heart. The 5th Annual Midwest Mandolin Festival, presented by the Mandolin Society of Central Indiana is being held on Saturday, June 6th at Eagle Creek Park Marina Stage, in Indianapolis. (Click here for a map.)

According to the Mandolindy website, “you can enjoy a day of acoustic mandolin music, including old-time, traditional, jazz, blues, contemporary, Celtic [my favorite. No really. — Erik], progressive, orchestrated, and bluegrass music by regional performing artists.”

The event will be held rain or shine. If it’s raining, the festival will be held inside the Earth Discovery Center in the park.

The day will also feature two free mandolin workshops, one for beginners and one for intermediate players.

Admission is free with paid admission to the park ($5 per car).
