You don’t need to go to Chicago to experience the joy of an IMAX movie. There is now an IMAX movie theater located in Portage, Indiana.
Located 45 minutes outside of Chicago, the Portage 16 is a state of the art multiplex that happens to have an impressive IMAX screen.
They show the latest Hollywood Blockbusters on their giant screen as well as fascinating educational documentaries.
If you were to go to somewhere like Navy Pier in Chicago to go the IMAX, you’d have to drive to Chicago, pay to park at Navy Pier then page huge admission fees to get in.
The Portage 16 is much closer to the rest of Indiana, parking is free and tickets are much cheaper, especially if you go to a matinee. There are also a lot of excellent restaurants around the theater and it’s much cheaper to eat in Portage than the big city.
So, if you’re in Northern Indiana or Southern Chicagoland and want to experience the IMAX screen, stop by Portage for a good night out. It’s really easy to get to, right off I-80 and I-90.
