Follow your stomach to Holiday World

The last weeks of school are upon us, which means my kids are starting to ask about summer vacation plans. The first question is almost always “When can we go to Holiday World?”

There are hundreds of reasons why Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana is on the top of our summer fun list. But in the interest of brevity — and because it’s lunchtime and I’m hungry — I’m going to give you some food-related reasons why you should go to Holiday World:

  1. Feeding Families Food Drive: During the months of May and June, every ticket-holder who donates at least two cans of foods on the day of their visit will receive $5 in Holibucks to spend in the park that day.
  2. Allergen-friendly menus: Last month, Holiday World was the only business recognized by The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network with its Make a Difference Award for its allergen-friendly menu. Learn more here.
  3. Reasonably priced food: Hot dog, applesauce (or fries) and a cookie, $3.29. Grilled chicken salad, $5.99. Ice cream in a waffle cone, $2.89. Check out all the menus and prices posted here.
  4. Free soft drinks: Actually free and unlimited carbonated beverages, lemonade, fruit punch, iced tea, coffee and ice water with self-serve stations located throughout the amusement and the water parks.

Maybe later I’ll come back and talk about the record-breaking wooden roller coasters, the amazing water park, the cleanliness of the grounds and the friendliness of the staff. But today, it’s all about the food!
