While Peyton Manning is hiding out, recovering from an early summer knee surgery, I went on a tour of the Colt’s brand new stadium this weekend…Lucas Oil Stadium. The stadium was big in every sense of the word. From the enormous exterior, to the 67,000 seat capacity inside, this will be a great place to watch countless events. From Colts Football to the Bands of America high school marching band championships, from NCAA Final Fours(Men’s and hopefully Women’s) to the Drum Corps International championships, from the IHSAA Football Championships to countless concerts, Lucas Oil will be a great venue.
The first game to be played in the stadium will be this Friday, August 22nd at 6:00. As part of the 9th annual PeyBack Classic high school football game, Noblesville will take on Fishers and New Palestine will take on Whiteland. The Colts’ first time on the field will be this Sunday, August 24 at 8:00 as they take on the Buffalo Bills for their first pre-season home game in the new stadium.
